Myrmecodia pendans is a tropical plant that grows in the dense forests in eastern parts of the Indonesian archipelago. It is also known as an endemic plant, for scientific research studies have shown that Myrmecodia pendans contains anti-cancer elements, which are the result of dried saliva from ants that live inside the cavities of this rare forest plant. This particular kind of dried ants saliva is an effective remedy to prevent and treat various illnesses.
This traditional Indonesian medicine can be used as a drug to treat rheumatism and arthritis. However, Myrmecodia pedans is perhaps most commonly used as an alternative treatment of breast, lung, liver and prostate cancer and tumors. The active compounds in the ants saliva contains high quantities of flavonoids, tannins, and polyfenol. Antioxidants of this kind can help prevent cancer as well as lessen its impact on the body. Moreover, chronic toxicity tests of Myrmecodia pedans have shown that this alternative medicine is safe to use, for there are no side effects.
The dry ants nest also contains multi-minerals, such as calcium, sodium, magnesium, and potassium, that improve the blood circulation.
